Porcelain fillings
Dental Inlays and Onlays are porcelain fillings that are alternatives to crowns. When a tooth is cracked, or an old amalgam filling is leaking or failing, an inlay or onlay is an ideal way to restore the tooth. Dentists used to have to grind teeth down to nubs and place crowns on teeth, but not anymore. At Cosmodent Dental Care we prefer to keep your teeth intact and restore only the unhealthy or unstable parts of your teeth.
Inlays and Onlays are more conservative than crowns for that reason, and they don’t result in that ugly gray line at the gum.
Porcelain bridge
A porcelain bridge is a treatment option for replacing a missing tooth. Cosmodent Dental Care takes great pride in producing bridges that look great, look natural, and are highly functional. We won’t accept anything less than the best in replacing a lost tooth or teeth.
If for any reason you have lost a tooth or teeth which has resulted in a gap between your remaining teeth, you are likely a candidate for a bridge. Your other options are dental implant replacements, or removable partial dentures. When you schedule a consultation with Cosmodent Dental Care we will review each of these options with you to find out which is the best treatment for you.
Porcelain Crown
Cosmodent Dental Care, we strive to be as conservative as possible. It’s the responsible way to conduct dentistry. In the old days, it used to be “crown or filling” was the only restoration option from your family dentist. Now, with advancements in adhesion protocols and porcelain systems we can offer more conservative options like inlays and onlays. In certain instances where we are replacing an existing crown or there is a lot of decay or damage to the tooth the best option might be a full coverage crown. Our crowns have NO METAL. Nothing replicates natural enamel and dentin better than porcelain.
Root Canal
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.
“Root canal” is the term used to describe the natural cavity within the center of the tooth. The pulp or pulp chamber is the soft area within the root canal. The tooth’s nerve lies within the root canal.
Emergency Dental Care
Nobody can plan for an emergency. Unfortunately, emergencies happen. Perhaps you experience an extreme toothache on the weekend, or a crown falls out. In case of emergency, we have staff members on call so we can provide the help you need.
When you call us over the weekend and indicate you have an emergency, a doctor is available to get you the care you need. If your emergency happens during our office hours we will do whatever we can to get you on our schedule, and out of pain. We don’t want you to suffer!
Reversing Cavities
Less drilling, more results!
You’re probably thinking, “Yeah, right! There is no way to reverse decay!” Well, this isn’t science fiction! Reversing decay has been made possibly through advances made around how decay progresses in your mouth. We think proactively about your smile to provide the best care possible. We offer various rinses, toothpastes, and chewing gums made with a naturally-occurring sweetener called Xylitol. These products are designed to harden and remineralize your teeth, making your mouth a healthy place to fight bacteria. Xylitol is a healthy sugar alternatives and is used in dentistry as a cavity preventative.
We look forward to helping you assess your risk and find the best product fit for you! As a wellness focused practice, ACosmodent Dental Care provides knowledge and encouragement for patients to live their healthiest lives. We also strive to encourage optimal patient health by practicing minimally invasive dentistry for the early detection and prevention of dental problems.
Sealants
Sealants are a protective varnish that is placed to protect the deep grooves in your back teeth. These grooves are hiding places that allow bacteria to accumulate and cause tooth decay. The sealant eliminates the hiding place and works to prevent cavities.
At Cosmodent Dental Care, we encourage all adults and children to have your back teeth properly sealed. Sealants can prevent the kind of decay that starts in the deep grooves of back teeth, and we believe if you keep your teeth properly sealed, you will eliminate your risk for this kind of tooth decay. Adults are just as prone to tooth decay as children are, and this inexpensive procedure will help avoid much more expensive problems in the future.

Porcelain Veneer
No-prep veneers
No-prep veneers have many different name brands, like Lumineers, DURAthins, Vivaneers and more. And everyone is asking about them! Here’s why no-prep veneers are an increasingly popular choice for improving your smile. No-prep means we don’t have to drill your teeth or reduce your tooth surface to fit the veneers to your smile.
No-prep veneers are similar in nature to contact lenses. Because the porcelain used is so thin we can bond to your teeth without creating bulk. If you’re a candidate for no-prep veneers, you can have the smile of your dreams without drilling and without having to be numbed!
Teeth Whitening
It’s hard to imagine anything more appealing than a sparkling, white smile. Yet our teeth rarely stay as white as we’d like them to without a little help. Fortunately, that help is available right here at the dental office.
Teeth Whitening Before and After:
Teeth whitening done in a professional dental setting is a safe, effective way to brighten your smile. It’s also perhaps the most economical cosmetic dental procedure. Depending on the whitening method you choose, results can be dramatic: in-office whitening, for example, can lighten teeth up to 10 shades in a single hour.
Professionally supervised whitening will work faster, and protect sensitive gums and tooth-root surfaces better, than over-the-counter whitening products. Having an oral exam before you begin any whitening process is an important first step, as we want to make sure your tooth discoloration is not the result of a dental condition in need of treatment. We also want you to be aware that it can be risky to have whitening solutions applied to your teeth by untrained personnel in shopping malls. If you have any questions about which whitening method would be best for you, we would be happy to answer them.
Professional Whitening Methods:
Professional whitening makes use of high-concentration bleaching gels that are not available over the counter.
In-Office Teeth Whitening:
In-Office Whitening — This technique offers the fastest results with the most powerful whitening solutions available. First, we will cover your gums and tooth-root surfaces with a protective barrier to ensure your safety. A thin plastic device known as a retractor will hold your lips and cheeks away from your teeth as we apply a professional-strength hydrogen peroxide gel, which we will leave on for about an hour. When we remove the gel, the results will be obvious immediately.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening:
Take-Home Whitening — This is another effective way to whiten your teeth, though you will play a greater role in ensuring the best possible results and several weeks may be needed to achieve your desired level of whiteness. First, we will take a mold of your teeth and then have two thin, flexible plastic mouth trays custom-made for you — one for the top teeth and one for the bottom. You will fill the trays with whitening gel and then position the trays over your teeth. The trays are left in usually for about an hour at a time.
Caring for Your Whitened Smile:
There are lots of things you can do to make sure your whitening results last as long as possible, and this will vary from person to person (six months to two years or even longer). First of all, please maintain your usual, conscientious routine of brushing and flossing every day, and keep up with your regular schedule of professional cleanings here at the dental office. Avoid foods and beverages that stain, including red wine, tea and coffee. If you smoke, use your newly whitened teeth as an impetus to quit — a good idea in any event! A minor touch-up every so often, either at home or here at the dental office, can keep your smile bright and beautiful for years.
Invisalign / Clear Bracs
Invisalign is a system of clear plastic trays used as orthodontic devices; essentially Invisalign acts as clear braces. Invisalign trays fit precisely over your teeth and move your teeth gradually to an ideal arch-form, bite alignment, and beautiful smile. Invisalign typically moves your teeth more quickly than traditional braces, and it does so invisibly. Other people will not know you are wearing braces because Invisalign trays are almost invisible.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is the use of white, tooth-colored composite filling material to fill, repair, or making minor aesthetic improvements to a tooth. The procedure is technique-sensitive, which means the systems in the procedure have to be performed precisely and without error. That’s why you want an expert Atlanta Dental Spa dentist to perform bonding for you! Unlike mercury fillings where you essentially fill a hole, placing composite bonding takes precision and detail or else the bonding will fail. If done incorrectly the filling will leak, fall out, crack, break, or the patient will have sensitivity after the filling is placed. Done correctly, however, dental bonding is an excellent, highly aesthetic, and long lasting result for repairing, restoring or enhancing a tooth.
Cosmodent Dental care are perfectionists in all they do, including their precision tooth bonding. They have mastered the sensitive technique and have thousands of successful tooth bonding results to their names.
Crowns
Our crowns have no metal. Nothing replicates natural enamel and dentin better than porcelain. In the past, the systems for producing high-quality porcelain restorations were weaker, thus the base of the crown had to be made of metal, then porcelain was fused to that metal. That metal can show through gum tissue, leaving an unsightly dark line at the base of the tooth. With modern-day porcelain systems, metal is no longer necessary. At Cosmodent Dental Care, we use technology to offer our patients a more conservative option to crowns. We feel that by being more conservative, we cause less trauma to the tooth, which allows the tooth to be healthier in the long run. It’s just a better way to do dentistry. We say “no” to crowns, and we think you should, too.
Gum Lift & Contouring
A gum lift or gum contouring procedure involves gently removing excess gum tissue by contouring and shaping the “gummy” section of your smile. Using a gentle diode laser, the dentist will sculpt the gum level to remove the gummy part and reshape the smile. The result is a much bigger, whiter, and more gorgeous smile. This procedure is also very often used in combination with a smile makeover using porcelain veneers. The gum lift helps to ensure symmetry and smoothness to the overall smile result.

Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked or not in the right place can also detract from one’s appearance.
The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a healthier mouth, a more pleasing appearance, and teeth that are more likely to last a lifetime.
A specialist in this field is called an orthodontist. Orthodontists receive two or more years of education beyond their four years in dental school in an ADA-approved orthodontic training program.
How do I Know if I Need Orthodontics?
Only your dentist or orthodontist can determine whether you can benefit from orthodontics. Based on diagnostic tools that include a full medical and dental health history, a clinical exam, plaster models of your teeth, and special X-rays and photographs, an orthodontist or dentist can decide whether orthodontics are recommended, and develop a treatment plan that’s right for you.
If you have any of the following, you may be a candidate for orthodontic treatment:
Overbite, sometimes called “buck teeth” — where the upper front teeth lie too far forward (stick out) over the lower teeth
Underbite — a “bulldog” appearance where the lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back
Crossbite — when the upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally
Open bite — space between the biting surfaces of the front and/or side teeth when the back teeth bite together
Misplaced midline— when the center of your upper front teeth does not line up with the center of your lower front teeth
Spacing — gaps, or spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not “fill up” the mouth
Crowding — when there are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate
How Does Orthodontic Treatment Work?
Many different types of appliances, both fixed and removable, are used to help move teeth, retrain muscles and affect the growth of the jaws. These appliances work by placing gentle pressure on the teeth and jaws. The severity of your problem will determine which orthodontic approach is likely to be the most effective.
Fixed appliances include:
Braces — the most common fixed appliances, braces consist of bands, wires and/or brackets. Bands are fixed around the teeth or tooth and used as anchors for the appliance, while brackets are most often bonded to the front of the tooth. Arch wires are passed through the brackets and attached to the bands. Tightening the arch wire puts tension on the teeth, gradually moving them to their proper position. Braces are usually adjusted monthly to bring about the desired results, which may be achieved within a few months to a few years. Today’s braces are smaller, lighter and show far less metal than in the past. They come in bright colors for kids as well as clear styles preferred by many adults.
Special fixed appliances — used to control thumb sucking or tongue thrusting, these appliances are attached to the teeth by bands. Because they are very uncomfortable during meals, they should be used only as a last resort.
Fixed space maintainers — if a baby tooth is lost prematurely, a space maintainer is used to keep the space open until the permanent tooth erupts. A band is attached to the tooth next to the empty space, and a wire is extended to the tooth on the other side of the space.Removable appliances include:
Aligners — an alternative to traditional braces for adults, serial aligners are being used by an increasing number of orthodontists to move teeth in the same way that fixed appliances work, only without metal wires and brackets. Aligners are virtually invisible and are removed for eating, brushing and flossing.
Removable space maintainers — these devices serve the same function as fixed space maintainers. They’re made with an acrylic base that fits over the jaw, and have plastic or wire branches between specific teeth to keep the space between them open.
Jaw repositioning appliances — also called splints, these devices are worn on either the top or lower jaw, and help train the jaw to close in a more favorable position. They may be used for temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ).
Lip and cheek bumpers — these are designed to keep the lips or cheeks away from the teeth. Lip and cheek muscles can exert pressure on the teeth, and these bumpers help relieve that pressure.
Palatal expander — a device used to widen the arch of the upper jaw. It is a plastic plate that fits over the roof of the mouth. Outward pressure applied to the plate by screws force the joints in the bones of the palate to open lengthwise, widening the palatal area.
Removable retainers — worn on the roof of the mouth, these devices prevent shifting of the teeth to their previous position. They can also be modified and used to prevent thumb sucking.
Headgear — with this device, a strap is placed around the back of the head and attached to a metal wire in front, or face bow. Headgear slows the growth of the upper jaw, and holds the back teeth where they are while the front teeth are pulled back.
Dental Implants
If you’ve never been a dental implant patient before, the concept and process can be confusing and foreign as implants are not what most people think of as day-to-day dentistry. However, implants quickly became the gold standard for tooth replacement after being introduced to dentistry in the early 1980s due to how versatile and predictable they are.
Dental implants are made of titanium, one of the most bio-compatible materials on the market, which means even if you have a metal allergy you are still likely to be an excellent candidate for implants. The implant is designed to function as the root of a tooth, meaning it is placed entirely in the jaw bone, just as your tooth’s natural root is. The top portion of the implant can be a single tooth, a part of a bridge helping to replace multiple teeth, or a component designed to improve a denture or partial denture.
PRF For Faster Healing
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) can be incorporated into just about every oral surgery procedure: wisdom teeth, tooth extractions, implants, bone grafts, and sinus lifts. Using PRF speeds up how quickly the surgical site heals by stimulating the body to accelerate it’s normal processes. This causes soft tissue (gums) to close faster and it has Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs) that help create new bone quickly. PRF is not just a product, it is a product of YOU. A small amount of blood is drawn, just like giving a sample at your physician’s office, and that blood is centrifuged to concentrate the healing molecules into a clot in the test tube. The clot can be used by itself, mixed into bone grafts, or as a covering to protect the surgical site. This clot is purely you, it’s just the best parts of you, so you cannot be allergic and it jump starts the healing process.
